AirPods Max: New Premium headset finally here!
The wait is finally over! The long-anticipated AirPods Max is finally here. Apple announced the new premium headphones on December 8th, 2020.
The new AirPods Max is basically an over-ear headset variant of the popular AirPods and AirPods Pro. Many of the beloved features of the AirPods are transferred to this new AirPods Max such as noise cancellation and the H1-chip. More about the features of this headset later on in this article.

The first-ever over-ear headphones from Apple! This new headphone comes in 5 different colors and includes the beloved features from the AirPods Pro such as noise cancellation, adaptive EQ, and spatial audio.
AirPods Max Design
The new AirPods Max comes with a minimalistic looking design in different colors and is made using premium materials to create an uncompromising fit for optimal acoustic seal.
The canopy is made of a breathable knit mesh to reduce pressure on your head. This is very nice if you are listening to audio for longer times and don’t want the pressure on your head.
The frame of the AirPods Max is made from stainless steel, which we know from the recent iPhone (pro) models. Stainless steel makes a very durable and premium looking design
The earcups self are made from aluminum. And due to ‘a revolutionary mechanism’, as Apple calls it. You are able to rotate each cup independently and balance pressure.
The AirPods Max also features a digital crown, which you might know from the Apple Watch. The digital crown comes in handy when controlling the volume of the audio or skipping tracks.
The AirPods Max comes in 5 different colors. Space Grey, Silver, Green, Sky Blue, and Pink.
AirPods Max Audio
The AirPods Max features the great audio functions we already know from the AirPods Pro. This includes noise cancellation, adaptive EQ, transparency mode, and spatial audio.
Apple talks about the so-called high-fidelity audio, which should deliver high-quality audio. Because the AirPods Max is not available at the moment I am writing this, I am not able to test the audio quality myself.
The AirPods Max comes with many sensors. One to enable case recognition for the included smart case. The AirPods Max also has 9 microphones, where 8 are being used for the noise cancelation.
AirPods Max Battery
Apple claims that the AirPods Max should deliver a battery life of 20 hours even when using the noise cancellation feature.
